All campers must be signed out by an authorized adult at the end of the camp day. Only persons listed on your child’s authorized pick-up list will be allowed to pick up your child(ren). If a child is to be picked up by someone other than an authorized person, the camp office must be notified by phone or email. For your child’s safety, we will not allow your child to leave the site without staff authorization. All guardians authorized to pickup must be at least eighteen years of age.
Absence
Please make sure to call the office if your child is going to miss one or more days of camp. If you know in advance that your child will be absent, an email to the camp office would be helpful.
Late Arrivals & Dismissals
Late arrivals must be brought by the parent to the Camp Office to be signed in. No child is permitted to enter the camp on his/her own, regardless of their age. The Camp Office must be notified in advance of campers requiring early departure. All campers must be signed out at the Camp Office. Under no circumstances will any child be released to anyone without proper authorization and identification.
Health & Well-being
Health Notification Responsibility
Parents/guardians are responsible for notifying the Camp Office in writing of any changes to their child’s health between the submission of the Camper Health Information Form and their child’s daily arrival at camp.
Health And Medical Care
If your child is showing signs of illness, please keep them at home to help prevent the spread of illness at camp. A child may be sent home if they are coughing, sneezing, have a fever, or exhibit any other contagious symptoms. If a child develops symptoms during the day, they will be sent home.
Medication at Camp
Our camp administrator can administer prescription medication in its original container, provided it includes the pharmacist’s label with the following information: child’s name, prescribed medication, dosage, duration, and expiry date. Over-the-counter medication will only be administered if it is sealed in its original container and labeled with the child’s name, medication (e.g., children’s Tylenol), dosage, duration, expiry date, and the reason for administering. In both cases, parents must complete a medication form authorizing the administration of the medication.
Code of Conduct
We are committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment where everyone—campers, families, staff, can fully enjoy a positive and enriching camp experience. We believe in fostering a respectful atmosphere that values the rights, needs, and well-being of our entire camp community, ensuring a space that is both physically and emotionally safe for all. To maintain these values, the following Code of Conduct applies to everyone involved.
Programming:
- Respect for Safety: All camp members are expected to prioritize the safety of themselves and others by following camp rules and guidelines to create a secure space for everyone.
- Respect for Feelings: Show empathy and kindness in all interactions, treating others with consideration and being inclusive to help foster a friendly and welcoming environment.
- Respect for Property: Campers and staff should take care of personal belongings and camp property, keeping our space tidy and enjoyable for all.
- Inclusive and Respectful Behavior: Actively contribute to a positive environment through words and actions. Be kind, helpful, and respectful to everyone you meet, ensuring every camper feels valued.
Sun Safe
We encourage everyone at Lions Spots Camp to be “Sun Smart!” Sun protection is essential, and we ask all parents to ensure their campers come prepared. Sun hats are required every day, and we recommend keeping an extra hat at home in case one gets misplaced. Applying sunscreen is a regular part of the camp day. Parents should apply sunscreen at home each morning before departure, and campers must bring a labeled bottle of sunscreen to camp. Our staff will assist and supervise campers in reapplying sunscreen throughout the day to ensure they stay protected. Together, we can make sure all campers have a safe and sun-smart summer!
Nut-aware Policy
To ensure the safety of campers with allergies, we ask that all campers avoid bringing products containing peanuts, tree nuts, or nut-derived ingredients.
- Label Awareness: Please review food labels carefully to confirm that items do not contain nuts or have been processed in a facility with nuts.
- Lunch and Snack Monitoring: Our team will help oversee food brought to camp to ensure it complies with our nut-free policy. We have a strict NO FOOD SHARING policy. Campers are reminded not to share snacks or lunches. Camp counselors supervise all meal times. They are trained in Standard First Aid and CPR-C, including the identification and response to allergic reactions, as well as in the proper administration of EpiPens if necessary.
Allergies/Anaphylaxis
Anaphylaxis is a severe allergic reaction that can be life-threatening. This type of allergy can be triggered by various factors, including food, insect stings, medications, and environmental conditions. Many children in our care have life-threatening allergies, and we take every precaution to ensure their safety. Protecting children with these allergies is a shared responsibility. Parents of children with an anaphylactic allergy must provide a detailed individual profile during registration to help us manage their care effectively.
Epipens and Inhalers
The safety of our campers is our top priority. All campers requiring an Epipen must have two Epipens at camp: one stored with Administration and one carried by the camper in a designated Epipen pouch. Each camper will receive an Epipen pouch on their first day, which must be worn at all times. Parents are required to complete an Anaphylaxis Plan. This plan ensures staff are fully informed and prepared to respond in case of an emergency. For campers using puffers, clear directions for administration must be provided, and a Medication Form must be on file for both regular and occasional use.
We believe in Fun
We have created a remarkable camp spirit that captures the truly unique feeling of “home” for our campers and staff. Special activities, arts and crafts workshops and camp traditions.
We believe in Creativity
We inspire students to express themselves, boost their confidence, and think outside the box. Our aim is to help them transform every idea into something extraordinary.
